dreams & snowflakes

Two nights ago, I dreamt that I had a new chapbook accepted for publication. The cover was brown, and the color pink stands out in my memory. I guess that's similar to the chapbook I already have available.

And yesterday afternoon, I received an email saying my poem was accepted to my alma mater's publication. So, in celebration, I registered for my alma mater's writing workshop.

The accepted poem is based on the true story from a few years back; I visited family in Massachusetts for Christmas. Except, all news outlets were saying that there would be no snow. So, I asked my late father for snow as a Christmas present. And on Christmas morning, snow fell and I cried.

The dream and email happened within twenty-four hours, and it was magical.

I plan on self-publishing a chapbook about my hometown later this year. Once I put the first draft of the manuscript together, I'll post a cover reveal on my main blog.

Until then, I'll keep dreaming, literally and figuratively.

my first interview

Two days ago, my first interview was posted on the blog The Chapbook Interview - about my chapbook, Tableau Vivant. There is something terrifying & exhilarating about reading the words of your own interview - questions that were asked and answers that were answered and question marks that actually inquire about your thoughts and opinions and advice.

I would call this blog post caffeinated constellations but that would be way too meta

I just like the idea of caffeinated constellations. I like caffeine - specifically coffee - and I like constellations - specifically Orion's Belt. This small phrase is straight out of my chapbook Tableau Vivant - the poem of the same name. I just like the idea of floating through space while sipping on a cup of coffee.

& that's why I named this blog what I did.

because

because I can't make up my mind between the professionalmaybe WordPress and the simple Blogspot. because I'm greedy. because I'm nervous. because it's a whirlwind of whatwillhappennext. because it's a tornado of whatdoIwritenext and Ineedtofinishtheseprojectsfirst with an added tsunami of whoneedsaconstantplatformanyway? - ! because I don't want to capitalize the becauses. because I'm a poet. because I like putting words together. because capitalizing the I and proper nouns is the only rule with which I honor my English degree. because I like repetition. because I like routine. because I both fear cycles and see the rotating beauty. because I've always gone my own way. just because.
